In BC, licensed naturopathic doctors (NDs) provide primary health care. Your ND will focus on the underlying source of illness and develop a protocol individualized for your health needs. Your care will include preventive medicine, nutrition, botanical (herbal) medicine and possibly other therapies, such as acupuncture or homeopathy. Many NDs can prescribe medications if necessary, or work with you to reduce your dependence on prescription medicine, and many offer Pap and mammogram referrals if required.
